18 And see what the land is, and the people that dwell in it, whether they are strong or weak, few or many 19 and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad, and what cities are that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in fortifications 20 and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood in it or not. Numbers 13 (MEV) 17 Moses sent them to explore the land of Canaan and said to them, “Go up to this southland, and go up into the mountain.

These next verses talk about what Moses instructed the twelve spies: Of every tribe of their fathers you will send a man, each one a chief among them.” Numbers 13 (MEV) 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Send men that they may explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel. Let us have a look at the scripture that talks about this event: There were twelve tribes just in case you forgot that. Moses sends one leader from each tribe of Israel. Upon getting close to the promised land, Moses is instructed by God to send twelve spies to search out the land.
#Bible from dust you came full
Of course, it’s not to be taken literally but it’s used in a figurative form to mean a land that is full of all sorts of resources. We are all familiar with the Bible account of how Moses led the Hebrew children out of the land of bondage that is Egypt towards the promised land, a land flowing with milk and honey. I know, I know you may be thinking what this event has to do with the mind and spirit but we will get to that part soon so please be patient with me. It’s about the twelve spies sent out to search out the promised land. Let us now have a look at a very common event in the Bible. The Spirit is the part of man that is reborn, not the body or soul. The Mind needs to be renewed by the word of God daily. Now that we have established these two facts: As for the body, we are all familiar with the phrase, “from dust you came, to dust you shall return”. The part of you that was born again or made new was your spirit, the real you. It is obvious to every Christian that you did not receive a new body when you received Christ as your Lord and Savior, neither did your mind suddenly turn all holy. Let’s see a scripture verse that talks about this:Ģ Corinthians 5:17 (MEV) Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. When we are born again, it is the spirit man that is reborn, not the soul or the body. The soul is the mind which consists of our conscience, thoughts, intellect, feelings, emotions, reasoning ability etc.

The body is made up of our five senses and the flesh. The word “heart” is synonymous to the word “spirit” in the Bible. Peter calls the spirit the hidden man of the heart. Paul calls the spirt the inner man or the real person on the inside. The spirit is the real person, the real you who is eternal and continues to live after the body dies. We are a spirit being who lives inside a body and has a soul. Just like God is a triune being, so are we. This is the first Biblical fact so please digest before you read the next line.Īnother hard to swallow fact is that we are made in the image of God. I’m afraid we Christians have no other choice so please learn to reconcile with this Biblical fact. Yes, renew your minds by the Word of God. Romans 12:2 (MEV) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.īut renew about minds with what? You probably guessed the answer by now. Let’s have a quick look at this scripture verse: The Apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 12:2 that we should renew our minds. Then your thoughts turn into words and what you say is eventually what you end up doing. But whatever determines that end result, always and I really mean always starts with a thought. In life, there are moments, different kinds of moments, some of victory and some of loss, some are joyous and some are sad, some make us a better person while others bring out the hidden monster within us.
